The Higher Plateau/Building Site  -  Summer 2010
This plateau has had a haircut.  It looked nicer with the trees, but the dirt phase comes before construction.  The                   photos were taken standing in the center of what will be our front yard.  We would have taken them from the edges of the plateau had we thought ahead to this web site.  You will need to use your imagination.

We will start with what is by now a familiar camera view of the central plateau.  You see that the driveway gravel was extended just over the top of the plateau in preparation for the ill fated mobile home.  Note the tire path across the plateau, in this photo and the next, made by the trucks coming to the top during the clearing process.  Now some grass seed is starting to grow there and a new driveway spur comes directly up to the house site.  There is always change. . . . . .

The front of the house will sit at the string line, facing into the camera.  The back will extend out over the shallow drop, across the weeds.  You are looking at our backyard through the back windows of our house.  Think ahead a few years.  Envision flower and vegetable gardens, flowering shrubs and small fruit trees, and a variety of areas for relaxing, dining, recreation, and entertaining.  Between the two right stakes you see the truck path.  The lone tree, where Bob parked his car, is still there.

A few of these trees are now gone, as is the pile of leftovers.

The guest and student parking area will be at this end of the plateau.  Barriers and shrubs will keep cars from driving off of the hill.

Imagine this dirt as a front yard landscaped with grass and flowers.  That is what you will see here when sitting on the front porch or looking out of the front windows.

More front yard.  A row of low-growing colorful shrubs will be along the dirt edge to border the oblong shaped driveway that will encircle the whole plateau.

The gap in the trees just right of center in this photo is the driveway coming up the hill.  The traffic will veer to the top of the photo, follow the driveway along the trees in the previous photo, drive into or past the parking area, then continue along the front of the house until returning to this photo from the bottom where the driveway meets itself and goes back down the hill.  Look just left of the driveway entrance to see the familiar farm road.  The afternoon shadows almost hide it..

Problem!  These photos were ordered to sensibly mimic the beginning and ending sequence of the previous photo groups, but our driveway traffic will  travel in the opposite direction.  To follow our true traffic pattern, you should now start with the driveway entrance in the previous photo and view all of the photos in reverse order.  Have fun.

This is the last group of photos.  Now that we have learned how to do this, we will update the web site when we are moved and send out our newsletter.  There will be more changes, including a completed building, for you to see.
